The criminal justice system in Mexico is experiencing times of change. It is in the midst of the crisis that we find the best opportunities for transformation. For this reason, Mexican jurists must look to other latitudes to promote a fruitful and open debate. More now that even the great powers are seeking to adjust their legal systems to face the challenges that modernity imposes. In the globalized world, the response of the Law cannot be the same as a hundred or a thousand years ago, as some still claim. The implementation in our country of a new criminal procedural system, the creation of new criminal types and the generation of more severe laws to prosecute and sanction trafficking in persons, kidnapping or money laundering, require confronting models that have proven its effectiveness on an international scale. None of the above should be attempted, of course, without strict respect for human rights.
